Daily Linear Triage Issue with WhatsApp Notification
Every morning at a set hour it opens a fresh Linear triage ticket for the support queue and pings the on-duty person on WhatsApp with the ticket details.
Use this templateWhy use it
Support requests trickle in overnight through email, chat and the odd Slack DM, and nobody owns them until someone happens to look. Mornings start with a scramble over who is on triage duty, half the queue gets read twice and the rest sits untouched until a customer follows up angry. There is no single ticket to work from, so nothing is logged, nothing is measurable, and the person actually on duty finds out by accident.
How it works
- 1Each morning at the hour you choose, the day's triage routine kicks off on its own — no one has to remember to open the queue or create anything by hand.
- 2A fresh issue is created in Linear for that day's triage, in the team and project you pick, with the title, description, priority and labels you set once so every day's ticket looks the same.
- 3The person on triage duty gets a WhatsApp message with the ticket details — what was created and where to find it — so their day starts with the queue already assigned instead of a guess.

Questions
Will it create a ticket on weekends and holidays?
The schedule runs on the days you configure, so you can limit it to weekdays. Public holidays are not detected automatically — either pause the automation for those days or close the extra ticket when you are back.
Can the WhatsApp message go to a different person each day?
As set up, the message goes to the recipient number you configure, so it works best pointed at a shared on-duty number or a group. To rotate individuals, you would need to change the recipient when the rota changes.
Does it pull the actual overnight support requests into the ticket?
No. It opens one consistent triage ticket per day and notifies the on-duty person. The queue itself still lives in your support tools; the ticket is the place where the day's triage work gets tracked.
Do I need a WhatsApp Business API approval to receive the alerts?
No. WhatsScale sends through an existing WhatsApp number you connect, so there is no application to submit and no waiting period before the first morning message arrives.
Can I control which Linear team, project or priority is used?
Yes. The issue creation step exposes the team, project, title, description, priority and labels, so you can shape the daily ticket to match how your support queue is already organised in Linear.
What happens if yesterday's ticket is still open?
A new one is still created, since the automation does not check existing issues. Many teams treat this as useful — an unclosed ticket from the day before is a visible signal that the queue was not worked through.
