Daily Birthday Digest from Google Contacts to WhatsApp
Each morning it looks up the contacts whose birthdays are stored in Google Contacts and pushes the list to your WhatsApp so nobody is forgotten.
Use this templateWhy use it
Birthdays live in Google Contacts, but nothing ever surfaces them. You only find out someone turned a year older when a mutual friend posts about it, or when a client mentions it in passing weeks later. Calendar reminders get dismissed at 9am while you're mid-task, and a spreadsheet of dates is something you have to remember to open — which defeats the point. The result is a steady drip of missed birthdays, awkward late messages, and relationships that quietly cool off because the small gestures never happened.
How it works
- 1Every morning at the hour you choose, the run kicks off on its own — no app to open, no reminder to dismiss.
- 2Google Contacts is searched for the contacts whose birthday falls on today's date, pulling back their names.
- 3The resulting list is sent to your WhatsApp as a text message through WhatsScale, so today's birthdays are sitting in your chat list before your first coffee.

Questions
What happens on a day when nobody has a birthday?
The contact lookup simply returns nothing, and you can leave the flow to send an empty or short message, or add a condition so it only messages you when there is at least one name. Most people prefer the daily message either way, because it confirms the automation is still alive.
Where do the birthday dates come from?
Straight from the birthday field on each contact in Google Contacts. If a contact has no birthday saved there, they will never appear in the digest, so it is worth spending an afternoon filling in the dates you know before you rely on this.
Can it send the birthday wish to the contact instead of to me?
This template deliberately messages you, not them. It gives you the names and leaves the wording to you, which keeps the message personal. Sending automated greetings directly to contacts is a different flow and a different judgement call.
What time does the digest arrive?
You set the hour on the daily schedule when you activate the template. Early morning works best so you have the whole day to reach out, but anything you would reliably read is fine — pick the time you normally check WhatsApp.
Do I need a separate WhatsApp Business API approval for this?
No. WhatsScale connects the WhatsApp number you already use, so there is no application process or waiting period before the first digest lands in your chat.
Will it pick up birthdays without a year, like just 'June 14'?
Yes. Google Contacts allows a birthday with no year, and the search matches on the day and month, so those contacts show up in the digest exactly like the rest.
