Netlify Deploy Alerts to WhatsApp
Watches a Netlify site for failed builds, pulls the site details, and pushes the failure notice straight to a WhatsApp chat so the team can fix it fast.
Use this templateWhy use it
A deploy fails and nobody notices. The build error sits in Netlify, the notification email lands in an inbox nobody has open on a Friday afternoon, and the site keeps serving the last good version while the fix everyone thought shipped is nowhere to be found. By the time someone opens the dashboard, hours have gone by, a client has asked why the change isn't live, and the developer who broke it has already moved on to something else and lost the context.
How it works
- 1Netlify fires the moment a deploy on your site finishes in a failed state, so the alert starts from the build itself rather than from someone checking the dashboard.
- 2Netlify is queried again for the site record behind that failed deploy, pulling back details like the site name and URL so the alert says which project broke instead of just showing a deploy ID.
- 3A WhatsApp message goes out through WhatsScale to the chat or group you choose, carrying the failure notice and the site details so whoever is on call sees it on their phone and can go straight to the build log.

Questions
Does this cover every site in my Netlify account or just one?
The trigger is set against a specific site, so it watches the one you select when you connect it. If you deploy several projects and want alerts for all of them, duplicate the template and point each copy at a different site, optionally sending each to its own WhatsApp group.
Will it message me for successful deploys too?
No. The trigger only fires on a failed deploy, so successful builds pass silently. That keeps the chat quiet enough that a message actually means something is broken rather than becoming noise people learn to swipe away.
Can the alert go to a group chat instead of one person?
Yes. WhatsScale sends from your connected WhatsApp number, so you can target an individual or a group thread such as a dev channel. Groups tend to work better because whoever is free can pick it up rather than waiting on one named person.
Does the message include the build log or the actual error?
It carries the failure notice and the site details retrieved from Netlify, which tells the team what broke and where. For the full stack trace you still open the deploy log in Netlify, but the message gets you there in seconds instead of hours.
How fast does the alert arrive after a build fails?
The trigger fires when Netlify reports the failed deploy, and the message follows immediately after the site lookup. In practice the team sees it on their phones within moments of the build going red.
Do I need to apply for WhatsApp Business API access first?
No. WhatsScale connects a WhatsApp number you already use, so there is no application process or waiting period before you can send. You link the number and the workflow can start messaging.
