Important emails arrive while you're away from your desk, and by the time you open your inbox they're buried under newsletters and threads. Worse, an inbox is a fragile place to keep a record — one accidental delete, one account lockout, one over-eager cleanup rule, and the message you needed for a client dispute or a tax question is gone. If you handle enquiries, invoices or support requests over email, you end up either checking your inbox compulsively or copying messages into folders by hand so there's a paper trail someone else can find.

Questions
Does this archive attachments too?
No. The step that runs writes the message as a text file in Google Drive, which covers the sender, subject and body text. Attachments stay in Gmail, so treat the Drive copy as a searchable record rather than a full mailbox backup.
Won't I get a WhatsApp ping for every newsletter and spam email?
You will if everything reaches your inbox, so filter first. Most people point the trigger at a specific Gmail label or set up a Gmail filter so only the mail that matters lands where the automation is watching.
Can the alert go to a group or a colleague instead of me?
Yes. The WhatsApp step sends to whichever number or group chat you set as the recipient, so a shared team chat works just as well as your personal phone. You can change it later without touching the Drive step.
Do I need a WhatsApp Business API approval before this works?
No waiting on an application. WhatsScale connects a WhatsApp number you already use, so once the number is linked the messages start sending as soon as the automation is switched on.
How are the files named and organised in Drive?
You choose the target folder and the file name pattern when you set up the Google Drive step. Including the subject and the received date in the name is the usual choice, since it makes the archive easy to scan and search later.
What happens to emails that arrived before I turned this on?
Nothing — the trigger only fires on new incoming mail from the point the automation is active. Older messages stay in Gmail only, so archive those manually if you need them in Drive as well.
