Why use it

New drivers get added to Onfleet by whoever happens to be doing the onboarding that day, and nobody else finds out until a task fails to assign or a dispatcher asks who the unfamiliar name on the map is. The person coordinating routes has no idea a new courier is available, the ops lead doesn't know which team the account landed in, and someone has to log into the dashboard just to grab a phone number. Meanwhile the driver sits idle on their first shift because nobody thought to send them work.

How it works

  1. 1The moment a worker account is created in Onfleet, the trigger fires and picks up the new driver's details — name, phone, and how the account was set up.
  2. 2Onfleet is queried again for the full list of teams on your account, so the alert can show where this driver sits relative to your existing crews.
  3. 3A WhatsApp message goes out to your dispatch group through WhatsScale with the new driver's contact details and the current team list, ready for whoever is assigning routes.

Questions

Does this tell me which team the new driver was assigned to?

The message includes your current team list from Onfleet alongside the driver's details, so dispatch can see the available teams at a glance. It does not itself perform the assignment — that still happens in Onfleet.

Can I send this to a group chat instead of one person?

Yes. The WhatsApp step sends to whichever chat you point it at, including a group. Most teams use their existing dispatch or operations group so everyone on shift sees the new driver at the same time.

What happens if drivers are created in bulk during onboarding?

Each worker creation in Onfleet fires the trigger separately, so you get one message per driver. If you onboard ten people at once, expect ten messages — worth pointing at a dedicated channel rather than your busiest group.

Will this fire for drivers who sign up themselves versus ones an admin adds?

The trigger listens for the worker account being created in Onfleet, regardless of who initiated it. Self-signup and admin-created accounts both produce the same event and the same alert.

Can I change what the message says?

Yes. The WhatsApp step uses a text message you write yourself, so you can reorder the driver details, add your own onboarding checklist, or drop the team list if your dispatchers already know it by heart.
